I love chickens so much. Especially YAKITORI is so tasty. Now where do we import poultry from? Do you know? America? China? Or Thailand? That is almost correct. But, the top import country is Brazil!!

In 2008 Japan imported 392,000 tons of poultry from Brazil. That is 54% of the total import quantity of poultry and poultry delicatessen (731,000 tons) and 93% of poultry only (420,000 tons) in Japan. There is a close connection between the supply and demand of poultry in this country and Brazil’s poultry industry.

Brazil is the top country for poultry exports. One of most important reasons is bird influenza. In Japan, whenever one country has bird influenza, poultry imports stop. South America has never had bird influenza. So it has stability and is able to supply chickens continuously.

Chickens voyage all the way to Japan from Brazil !

Yakitori is best !
by: Gary Wolff

Thanks, Chie, for your interesting story. I didn't know Brazil is the top country for poultry exports to Japan.

And I also LOVE yakitori. Especially, "negima shio." Gohon, onegaishimasu ! :-)

Thanks again....

Gary
