Tourist Spots in Northern Ireland

The Belfast Zoo

The Belfast Zoo

Northern Ireland has many tourist spots. For example, The Giant’s Causeway. It is an aggregate of stone columns made by volcanic activity, and the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland.

A famous ship, the Titanic, was built at Belfast’s shipyard at the beginning of the 20th century. Now, there is no Titanic, but is just the shipyard.

The Belfast Zoo is also a famous spot in Northern Ireland. It has more than 140 species of animals, and 304,000 visitors a year. Compared with the Ueno Zoo, Japan’s biggest zoo, the Belfast Zoo is not so big.

But, the zoo got the ‘Best Visitor Experience’ category at the Tourism Awards 2010 in Northern Ireland. I like foreign zoos, because they are different from Japan’s zoos so much. So, I want to visit world zoos someday.

Northern Ireland is small, but has many tourist spots. It’s one of the attractive points of Northern Ireland.
