Are the Mt. Fuji Yoshida trails one way?

by Miranda
(London)

I wish to stay in a mountain hut (there's space at Ganso Muro) after climbing to the summit. Would it be permissible to descend the ascending Yoshida trail to Ganso Muro from the summit?

I am finding it hard to tell on the maps if there are any connecting routes between the ascending and descending Yoshida Trails. Are you able to advise please?

I need to catch the first bus from the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station at 8am to Kawaguchiko Station.

Thank you in advance for your advice and help. Thank you too for your detailed study and resource available here on climbing the mountain. It's really exciting.

Thanks, Miranda.

The Mt. Fuji Yoshida Trail situation is a bit different every season (for example, this year its opening was delayed 8 days due to the collapse of a stone wall near the summit), but as a rule, unless it’s an emergency, going down an ascent trail will be frowned upon.

But as you can see from this map (https://cdn.fujiyama-navi.jp/item_images/images/000/042/219/original/441a7eac-0caa-42d4-bc60-e22efd0cdeca.jpg), it is my understanding that there are a number of crossover trails between the Mt. Fuji Yoshida ascent and descent trails in the vicinity of the Ganso Muro mountain hut.

So I believe you’ll be OK, although I am not entirely certain. Perhaps other visitors to this page who read your inquiry will have a more authoritative answer.

Happy trails and thanks for visiting my site…
