Are there any alternate buses to the suspended Narada-Hirogawara Line?

by Nea

hi. we are planning to hike the Shirane Sanzan next week. Our plan is:
day 1: from kofu station to the trailhead hirogawara and then a night in the kita hut,
day 2: from kita hut to summit of kita-aino-notori, and spend the night at notori hut
day 3: from notori hut to narada and take the bus from narada back to hirogawara

what do you think about the plan, ok or too ambitious or doable?

but i found out that (from my limited understanding from a translated japanese page) the bus from narada to hirokawara is not operating: http://yamanashikotsu.co.jp/information/. is there any other bus?

I don't think so.

Yes, I believe your translation is correct.

Apparently due to landslides on some sections of the "Narada-Hirogawara Line," that Yamanashi Kotsu bus service from Narada has been suspended as of July 5.

I'm not aware of any alternate buses, but perhaps other visitors to this page might be able to help. You might also try calling the Tokyo Tourist Info Center at +81-3-3201-3331 (daily including Sundays, except Jan. 1) from 9:00 to 17:00 Japan time.

Another option, of course, is to just go back out the same way you came in, hiking all the way back to Hirogawara, but unless you're in tip top physical condition, I don't recommend it. I did that in Aug. 2011 and it just about killed me. :-)

Happy trails and thanks for visiting my site...
