Are there English maps for Mt. Kita-dake at Hirogawara or online?

From what I see online, all the signs on the trail are in Japanese. Are there English maps at Hirogawara or online?

Also, is it easy to get lost on the trail?

Don't think so...

No, not that I’m aware of. At least there weren’t any English maps the last time I was in Hirogawara (広河原).

Nor are there any maps or signs in Chinese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, German, or French either. WHY? Because this is JAPAN. :-)

I think you’ll find an occasional sign with the Japanese name in romaji (romanized characters, like "Kita-dake"), but most of them are in kanji (Chinese characters) like this one:

Most responsible climbers are prepared with a Japanese trail map so they can compare the Japanese kanji on the trail signs with the Japanese kanji on their trail maps.

Here is the trail map for Mt. Kita-dake, available online and in major bookstores: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4398769773/

You can also use popular trekking apps like Yamap, available both in the App Store & Google Play.

So yes, I would think it’s quite easy to get lost without proper preparation.

Happy trails and thanks for visiting my site...
