Are there shuttles running to the Mt. Fuji 5th station all night?

by Jeff
(U.S.)

I am planning on going to Fuji and was going to leave tokyo after 7:30 pm which is past the time for last bus out of Shinjuku station. If I take the Chuo line to Otsuki station and then switch to the Fujikyu line in order to get to Kawaguchiko Station.

Once there it will be pretty late. Are there shuttles running to the 5th station all night?

Any help would be great. Can't leave any earlier because of work.

Supposedly you can purchase a 1-way ticket at the sales (ticket) counter
by: Gary Wolff

Marilou, on this page in Japanese (https://www.fujikyubus.co.jp/mycar/timetablefares/), it says you can purchase a one-way ticket from the Mt. Fuji Parking lot to the 5th station with cash or credit card at the sales (ticket) counter on the day of your travel, although it doesn’t mention the fare.

Also, starting 7/6 shuttle buses will leave that parking lot from 4 am on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and during the Obon holidays (August 13-16) and from 5 am on weekdays.

For confirmation or more questions, you might try contacting the Fujikyu Bus head office at +81-555-72-6877 or if no one speaks English there, you might try the Fujikawaguchiko Tourist Info Center at +81-555-72-6700.

Best wishes…

5th Station bus
by: Marilou

I've seen messages about 4:20 bus from Fujisan parking lot to the 5th station but I don't know where to book it so I was going to just get a taxi (I know it'll cost us $95 one way) and just take the bus going back. But so far, I only see round trip online and not one way. Can someone help where to book the early bus online? We're hoping to be at the 5th by 5am to start the climb by 6-630am. I didn't see any early bus from Kawaguchiko station.

I will be arriving at Shinjuku late as well, and not speaking Japanese. Is the JR the fastest way to get to Fuji? May I go faster if take JR from Narita?
should I get a JR East pass?

and then arriving at Otsuki with 4 people, is taxi reasonable price?
thank you

You could share a taxi to the Mt. Fuji 5th station w/ other climbers
by: Gary Wolff

Jeff, according to these bus schedules, it seems the last bus from Kawaguchiko Station (on some days) is @ 21:10: http://www.city.fujiyoshida.yamanashi.jp/div/english/html/climbing_buses.html

Rather than having to wait till the next morning, you could share a taxi w/ other climbers, but if you're alone, it might be a bit too pricey (Y12,000). :-)

And even if you arrive late, taxis generally hang out @ the stations quite late, especially during climbing season.

Best wishes with your climb...

Cheers,
Gary

p.s. Since you're going by train, depending on your schedule, this might save you some money: http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/fuji/index.html
