Are there shuttles running to the Mt. Fuji 5th station all night?

by Jeff
(U.S.)

I am planning on going to Fuji and was going to leave tokyo after 7:30 pm which is past the time for last bus out of Shinjuku station. If I take the Chuo line to Otsuki station and then switch to the Fujikyu line in order to get to Kawaguchiko Station.

Once there it will be pretty late. Are there shuttles running to the 5th station all night?

Any help would be great. Can't leave any earlier because of work.

I will be arriving at Shinjuku late as well, and not speaking Japanese. Is the JR the fastest way to get to Fuji? May I go faster if take JR from Narita?
should I get a JR East pass?

and then arriving at Otsuki with 4 people, is taxi reasonable price?
thank you

You could share a taxi to the Mt. Fuji 5th station w/ other climbers
by: Gary Wolff

Jeff, according to these bus schedules, it seems the last bus from Kawaguchiko Station (on some days) is @ 21:10: http://www.city.fujiyoshida.yamanashi.jp/div/english/html/climbing_buses.html

Rather than having to wait till the next morning, you could share a taxi w/ other climbers, but if you're alone, it might be a bit too pricey (Y12,000). :-)

And even if you arrive late, taxis generally hang out @ the stations quite late, especially during climbing season.

Best wishes with your climb...

Cheers,
Gary

p.s. Since you're going by train, depending on your schedule, this might save you some money: http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/fuji/index.html
