I imagined Northern Ireland to be calm and having big farms. Although Northern Ireland is a small country, the country has the largest shipyard dock in the world!

Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, has the largest “dry dock” in the world. A dry dock is a dock which makes ships without touching the sea, and is one of the most common types of shipyards. The city of Belfast has about 240,000 people, not too large. So I’m surprised Northern Ireland has huge shipyards!

The largest dry dock produced many famous ships in the world, particularly the famous ship "Titanic.” The Titanic was made in Belfast at the beginning of the 20th century as one of the “3 sisters,” with the other 2 being the “Olympic” & “Britannic.”

The cruise ship was the largest ship in the world connecting Britain with the USA in those days. The ship sank after crashing into an iceberg and many people died on 14th April 1912. The tragedy is famous and was made into a movie.

Although the tragedy happened, it’s true that many ships made in Belfast offer journeys that satisfy people's dreams and hopes. Those ships are making dreams and hopes all over the world now, I think.
