Can you give me some rough climbing times between the various stations on the Kawaguchiko trail?

Hi Gary, super informative site!!! Thanks. We are planning to climb Mt Fuji on Tues 16th July. My questions are -

1. Is it a good idea to stay at the highest hut possible so the final push to the summit will be shorter? I'm looking to stay at Goraiko-kan. How long would it take to reach the summit from here?

2. Are you able to give me some rough times between the various stations? eg. if we stayed in a hut on station 6, how long would it take to reach station 7, 8, 9 and the summit?

3. I would like to secure a hut asap. Generally, how early would I be able to book?

Thanks and I appreciate any responses.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

It sounds like you're planning to climb the main Kawaguchiko Yoshida Trail. Most of your hiking time questions will be answered here: https://www.garyjwolff.com/climbing-mt-fuji.html#5

And mtn. hut info for that trail are here: https://www.garyjwolff.com/mt-fuji-mountain-huts.html

Pls. be aware that last year there was a lot of late snow, so some sections of some trails didn't open up till July 20. You should be ok on the main trail, though.

Sorry, I don't know anything about making advance reservations, but they may not be necessary that early in the season. Best wishes !!

Cheers,
Gary
