How difficult is it to gain access to the trails after September 23rd?

Hiya, I arrive in Tokyo on September 23rd and would love to climb Fuji. It shouldn't be a problem in terms of fitness and equipment and hopefully the weather, while cooler, will still be ok, but how difficult is it to gain access to the trails given that climbing season is officially over?

I presume the shelters will also all be closed by now as well? Any info greatly appreciated, thank you!

I think your best bet is to take advantage of the Mt. Fuji Round Trip Ticket: http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/fuji/index.html

As for mountain huts, above the 6th station, they'll all be closed after 9/23 (https://www.garyjwolff.com/mt-fuji-mountain-huts.html), so in order not to damage the environment, you'll probably want to handle your own waste by bringing your own portable toilet.

Best wishes with your climb and watch out for typhoons (Sept. is the peak season in Japan), as one just blasted thru here yesterday.
