by Adam

I just taking up hiking. I'm going to be in Japan in May for about three weeks, but I'd like to trek up Mount Fuji.

I'm looking for a possible guide. I have seen on the web July is the best time, but I will no longer be in Japan.

Why I want to climb Mount Fuji is because in November I'm hoping to trek to Everest Base Camp...

Not a good idea
by: Gary Wolff

Don't do it! People die trying to climb Mt. Fuji in May every year, one of the months with the most snow. Mt. Fuji is not for beginners and climbing season is only from July thru mid-Sept.

I'd suggest taking a bus up to the 5th Station only.
