Traditional live music in an Irish pub

Traditional live music in an Irish pub

Irish pubs are well-known in the world. It is said that the origin of Irish pubs is older than English pubs. In Ireland we can find some pubs even in rural areas today.

“Pub” is short for “public house.” A long time ago, pubs were inns and a gathering place for the local community.

Now, pubs are sociable drinking saloons. People enjoy drinking, talking to each other, and listening to traditional live music.

Of course, there are a lot of Irish pubs in Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.

By the way, Northern Ireland has a complicated history. The conflict among Catholic and Protestant inhabitants has almost come to an end. But many marks of tragic incidents are still left in Belfast and Londonderry.

However, in Irish pubs people are gentle and open-hearted. In Northern Ireland pubs, we might have an actual feeling of peace, listening to people’s chattering and Irish music.
