Is it possible to ascend the Yoshida trail and descend the Fujinomiya trail?

by Malcolm
(Qatar)

Hi there. My girlfriend and I are looking to climb Mount Fuji midweek in July. We are hoping to set off from the 5th station and walk the Yoshida trail reaching the summit for the sunset.

We are then hoping to descend to the 8th station to stay for the night and get a few hours sleep to ascend again in the morning to catch the sunrise.

We are then wanting to do the Ohachimeguri Trail and descend via the Fujinomiya trail.

I was wondering if this is possible and would be easy to do?

If you could advise and any places to stay for the mountain huts that would be great.

Malcolm, I don't see anything wrong with your plan, but I'm not so sure about the "easy" part. :-) That all depends on your physical ability, preparedness, and a little cooperation from the weather.

My Mt. Fuji mountain huts page lists the Yoshida trail huts.

I did the Fujinomiya trail in 2012, so this page also might help you: Climbing Mt. Fuji's Fujinomiya Trail

Best wishes...
