Is it possible to climb Mt. Fuji in mid-June?

by David M.
(Georgia, USA)

Hi Gary - thanks for your great website. I will be in Japan in mid-June of this year, and it looks like my window would be from the 15th-19th of June. Is it possible to hike Mt. Fuji at that time and would you have a recommendation for a guide?

Thanks,
Dave

I wouldn't do it.

Thanks, Dave.

I'm not a big fan of off-season climbing of Mt. Fuji, and all 4 trails will still be officially closed in mid-June (still LOTS & LOTS of snow up there then).

I'm not aware of any guides that schedule tours that early, so I don't recommend climbing Mt. Fuji then. But you can always take a bus up to the 5th Station, where there's a lot to see and do.

Best wishes & thanks for visiting my site....

Cheers,
Gary
