Is Koh Samui too rainy in late June & early July?

Hi Gary, we're researching for a Koh Samui honeymoon with my girlfriend for sometime. We planned everything but checking the weather, makes us grimm since it shows rain or cloudy for most of june. (our plan is to be there between last week of june and first week of july) We are considering to postpone the koh samui trip to a dry season. I'll really appreciate if you can enlighten us about the weather for the period. Will it be too rainy and gloomy? or is it for couple hours a day and we can enjoy Koh Samui?

Kind Regards,
Erdem

Hi Erdem,

Congrats on your marriage. That's great!

In the upper right corner of my Koh Samui page is a link to the Koh Samui weather page @ Weather Underground, but after checking the history for late June/early July, they apparently do not report precipitation data: http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/VTSM/2011/6/24/MonthlyHistory.html

I believe a better resource for you will be the monthly Koh Samui climate data @ Wikipedia, where they report that rain showers generally last less than an hour: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koh_Samui#Climate

To catch the true dry season, it seems you'll need to wait till next Feb.

Have a great honeymoon !

Cheers,
Gary
