Is mid-May too early to climb Mt. Kita-dake?

Hi,

I read your article about Mount Kita-dake, thanks for writing it!

I'm having great difficulty finding out a few things about Kita-dake:
- Is mid-May too early to climb?
- Does the bus from Kofu run that early? (Or are there other ways?)

Thanks for your help,

Mat

IMHO, yes, mid-May is too early.

Thanks, Mat.

The buses to Hirogawara don't start running until late June (https://www.garyjwolff.com/mt-kita-dake.html#bus) because of all the white stuff up there. So in my humble opinion, yes, mid-May is too early.

I guess you could take a taxi up as far as the road is open at that time, which will likely be quite far from the trailhead & would be a bit pricey unless you can share the fare with other climbers.

Happy trails...

Cheers,
Gary
