Is there an alternative activity at Mt. Fuji in the off-season?

by Emilyn Tan
(CDO, Philippines)

Since it's dangerous for casual non-pro climbers to go up Mt. Fuji in the off-season, are there alternative activities or sites to go to that's related to Mt. Fuji?

Yes, there is!

That's an excellent question, Emilyn.

Yes, there are many exciting things to do year-round in the beautiful Fuji Five Lakes region at the base of Mt. Fuji, including hot springs, museums, a ropeway, theater, hikes, caves, and even an amusement park.

What I'd suggest is you check out some of the links on my Climbing Mt. Fuji page under the question "Where can I eat, sleep, and sightsee at the base of Mt. Fuji?", starting with the "Things to Do" and the "Points of interest map" links for Fujiyoshida.

You might also want to contact the Mt. Fuji area tourist info centers listed on the same page under the question "Where can I get more helpful info on climbing Mt. Fuji?.

Thanks so much for visiting my site and I hope you have a nice visit to the stunning Fuji-san area!

Mabuhay!
