Jonendake: Ichinosawa Transportation

Hi Gary,

Thanks for sharing your interesting story and video on the Jonendake climb. That sure was quite an elevation climb for a 1 day climb.

This past September, we traversed from Enzanso to Jonen Goya but when we got there, the weather was fogged in due to Typhoon Manyi, so we didn't get to climb Jonen Dake.

I'm thinking of making another attempt at Jonendake from Ichinosawa (maybe 1 day climb).

My question is how did you get to Ichinosawa so early in the morning (5:00 am)? Did you drive or did you catch a cab? Is there a parking lot at the Ichinosawa trailhead?

Thanks,
Dennis

I caught a ride with a friend
by: Gary Wolff

Dennis, thanks for your kind words and so sorry to hear about your bad luck with the weather.

I was fortunate enough to have a friend drop me off at the trailhead. And while I scaled Japan's 45th highest peak, she went shopping and visited all the local sights. :-)

Yes, there is a small parking lot, but not at the trailhead. It's down the road a ways.

Best wishes with your climb!
