Scottish Highland Dancing

by Hikaru
(Tokyo)

Scottish Highland Dancing is a traditional dance in Scotland. As you know, dance is common to all cultures. Most of the true Highland dances are connected with ancient Scottish folk customs.

There are two main types of Scottish dance: Country Dance and Highland Dance. They differ considerably in style and purpose.

Now, I want to introduce you to Highland Dancing.

Once you see and hear Scottish Highland Dancing, you must be surprised, because the tone of the bagpipes is really beautiful and dancer's footwork is perfectly coordinated!

I knew there are a lot of types of Highland Dancing: Highland Fling, The Sword Dance, The Seann Triubhas...

I watched all of them, and really enjoy each character!! If you are interested in Scottish Highland Dancing, try to watch it, please! :)
