The Landscape of Fantasy

by Kazuya S.
(Chiba, Japan)

New Zealand is the place that I want to go to watch nature. New Zealand is a famous place that has a lot of nature by geographical features and climate. I haven’t been there yet, but I want to go very much.

The nature in New Zealand is very beautiful--mountains, forests, icebergs, and volcanoes. This nature and landscapes make people enchanted, and served as the movie sets for some famous fantasy movies, for example “Lord of the Rings” and “The Chronicles of Narnia.” That nature seems to be very magical and even fairy-like.

My most favorite place there is the fjord named “Milford Sound.” I like the fjord because this kind of landscape can’t be seen in Japan as we don't have glaciers.

Now I’m studying geography. So I’m interested in how these geographical features are created.

Milford Sound
by: Gary Wolff

You painted a beautiful word picture and told a great story, Kazuya.

The only thing that would've made it any better is a photo, say, of Milford Sound.

Thanks so much for sharing & best wishes with your geography classes...

Gary
