Two Earthquakes in NZ and Japan

by Kiho Muroga
(Suginami, Tokyo, Japan)

In NZ, there was a big earthquake on February 22. The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.3, so it was a very big earthquake. In addition, 28 Japanese people were killed by the earthquake. However, a bigger earthquake occurred in Japan soon afterwards. An earthquake which had a magnitude of 9.0 happened on March 11.

Therefore, the earthquake in NZ has been not reported widely in Japan since March 11. Of course, the earthquake in Japan was very big and the business climate was damaged, not only in Japan but also all over the world. However, Christchurch in NZ was also damaged, for example, 28 Japanese people died. I think Japanese people should also think about NZ damage very much.

Japanese care about earthquake damage in New Zealand
by: Gary Wolff

Kiho, that's very thoughtful and kind-hearted of you that as a Japanese, in spite of the horrific damage to your own country from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, you still have concern for those affected by the Feb. 22 earthquake in Christchurch.

That warms my heart. Thanks for your story...
