Veils of Saudi Arabia

 2012 London Olympics

2012 London Olympics

Saudi Arabia is well known for oil, Islam, and so on. Although Saudi Arabia is a strict country on the point of Islam. Especially, there are restrictions to women. For example, Islamic women have to wear a veil.

To wear a veil, please remember the Olympics in 2012. It became news that Saudi Arabian women (Judo and track and field) joined in the Olympics. They wanted to wear them, but the International Olympic Committee(IOC) worried about this offer because they couldn't decide which (culture or sports rule) precedes. Eventually, two women wore like veils. It is a difficult problem, I think.

On the other hand, I am happy to hear that Saudi Arabian women could join in the Olympics. For Saudi Arabia, this is the first time to adopt women as Olympic athletes.

And I think through the Olympics, human beings can connect with one another. In 2016, what country will be chosen?

Saudi Arabian women Olympic athletes

Very insightful story, Riko. I agree it was great that Saudi Arabian women were able to participate in the 2012 London Olympics.

I'm not sure I understood the question at the end of your story, but the 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
