Can I purchase a Mt. Fuji climbing stick outside of Japan?

Is there any place other than Japan (online?) to purchase a Fuji stick? With or without stamps. I am trying to find a replacement Mt. Fuji stick for my brother.
Thanks

***************

Reply: That's an interesting question, but I'm afraid I can't help you. To my knowledge, although they sometimes show up on eBay, the only place to purchase Mt. Fuji climbing sticks, commonly referred to in Japanese as a kongozue (金剛杖, pilgrim's staff), is on Mt. Fuji itself.

This page (in Japanese) has many pics of the different kinds of stamps & flags you can get on your Mt. Fuji climbing stick: https://www.clubgets.com/fujitozan/stamp/

But if any future visitors to this page have any info to assist with this inquiry, I hope you'll be kind enough to share it in the commenting section below, thanks...

Cheers,
Gary

Wish to Purchase Fully Stamped Mt. Fuji Stick
by: Nathan

My wife climbed Fuji in 2015 and her fully stamped hiking stick was lost in transit back to the US. It is one of the only times I have ever seen her cry, and hope to gift her a substitute.

I am looking to purchase a fully stamped hiking stick from around the 2015 time period or anyone planning to hike Fuji in the future (I would pay for all expenses, shipping, and extra for your effort).

Please email me at nathanpattee17@gmail.com if you are interested in selling a stick or hiking Fuji soon!

Summit Stamp AUG 2022
by: Anonymous

Hello everyone! I just got done climbing Mt. Fuji and got all of the stamps along the way except….the Summit! My hiking stick feels unfinished! Does anyone have a picture of the Summit stamp that I might be able to replicate and burn into my hiking stick? Or the stamp itself, but I doubt anyone would have the stamp. Please email Gator3280@comcast.net

Thanks for any help!

Needing Help
by: Alex Cupernall

I’m looking for a Fuji Stick with the stamps if anyone knows where I can get on or buy one. I was there twice in the summer of 1999 and summer of 2001. My ex wife got rid of them needless to say she burned them as well as other items and I would like to replace one if not both. I had all the stamps on them that where available at the time. I would like to have one with the rest of my collection to show my children the many different things I did as a young Marine. Thank you for the help.

I posted this a few years ago, so here goes again.

At one point I found a Fuji stick. If anyone has lost theirs and can provide a reasonable description of where I found it, I'll return it to you for free, after all I didn't earn it. The only hint that I'll give is that it was before 1980.

Climbing stick found on ebay

Made the climb while my dad was in Air Force at Camp Drake in 1969. Stick did not make return trip. Always wanted to find replacement to share with the kids while telling the story. EBAY was finally the answer as very few will part with the memory if they actually made the climb. Mine was purchased by someone buying storage lockers and I grabbed it when posted for sale! Good luck and happy hunting!

I still have ours from 1959
by: Daniel

Our family was there in the late 50s when my father was in the Air Force. We attempted Fujisan but apparently I wimped out. My father saved the two walking sticks but cut them in two pieces.

I have connected the two parts with 1 1/4 inch clear thick plastic tubing and it is reasonably stable, and certainly usable for at least light use. I intend to use it in Japan this fall for part of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage and perhaps during the summer of 2021 finish climbing Fujisan with it.

A few years ago I stayed in Kawaguchiko after the regular climbing season and hiked the bottom part of the old pilgrimage trail as far as the Fifth Station.

I wouldn't want to part with either walking stick but enjoyed this discussion and thought I'd add my own story.

Fuji Stick value
by: Dan V

The dollar value is $6USD for a plain stick. Each stamp is roughly $3-$5USD.
The Real Value of the stick is PRICELESS. The stick WORTHLESS if you didn't hike Fujisan! I hiked it with a few buddies on Jul. 31, 2016. We mailed our sticks home and only 2 of the 5 made it to our home in the USA. I received mine in the mail, but it was broken at the bottom. Missing 12 inches. Luckily, there were no stamps that low on the stick. Still make me upset. And my buddies are still searching for theirs. If someone as acquired a stick from somewhere, I would try to at least sell/give it to a person who has actually hiked up to the top!! Do not disrespect the efforts of those who made it to the top, by selling a stick to someone who just wants one. That's not how it works. Thank you and may many more people enjoy the hike. It was Amazing!

I just sold a Mt. Fuji Walking Stick on eBay and about a 3 weeks ago I saw another Mt. Fuji Walking Stick had sold on eBay. Anyone looking for one might try "searching" for Mt. Fuji Walking Stick For Sale. I believe sights other than eBay might pop up.
Lots of luck.

ISO climbing stick to replace lost one
by: Anonymous

I climbed Mt Fuji in 1978 when I was about 13 years old. We had just moved to Japan. Somewhere along the way with our many military moves, my stick got lost. Anyone have one for sale from about that time? I also got the sunrise stamp, so that would be a bonus if I found a stick with that as well.

Need Flag from Fuji-San Peak
by: FeistyTraveller

Hi...I climbed Fuji a long time ago. I still have my walking stick but the flag has been moth eaten. To this day, it's one of my proudest possessions and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get another flag.

Our daughter had her stick packaged and shipped from Atsugi, Japan on July 31st, 2015. Half of the cardboard cylinder arrived EMPTY a week later! Desperate to find it..as you all know, it's one of a kind. Trying to track it down via USPS... If anyone happens to have any clues, please let me know! Happy trails & thank you!

Missing hiking pole
by: Anonymous

I misplaced mine on a bus when I was at Kawaguchiko Station. My pole has a old Japanese flag and a 2015 stamp. I have been calling around the different bus lines trying to locate it. My email is estrellamartinez35@hotmail.com, thanks for letting people know you found someone's trekking stick!

When I returned to the US from overseas, I found a Fuji Stick in the trash. If anyone can identify where I found it, I'll be glad to return it. (I did not climb Mt. Fuji.)

Mount Fuji walking stick
by: Anonymous

Looking to buy a used Mount Fuji Walking Stick for my daughter-in -law. Her father (who has passed away) climbed Mt Fuji and had a walking stick, I think it had some burn marks on it and so forth. Anyway her stepmother disposed of it without my daughter-in-laws knowledge and she wanted to keep it. So her birthday is coming up and would so like to get one for her.
please email me if you can help marthagruber@sbcglobal.net
