Considering summiting via the Fujinomiya trail, but heard it doesn’t have a good vantage point for the sunrise?

about 30 min.

From the top of the Fujinomiya trail over to the top of the Yoshida trail is about 30 minutes, as you can see if you zoom in on the detailed map of Mt. Fuji's Ohachimeguri summit loop trail (お鉢めぐり,) in the upper right corner of this PDF:
http://garywolff.com/detailed_2021_fuji_climbing_map.pdf

But it’s also only 20 minutes to the top of the Kengamine peak (剣ヶ峰), the actual 3776-m summit of Mt. Fuji and Japan's highpoint, where you should also be able to catch a stunning sunrise, weather permitting.

And in August 2012 I caught an absolutely magnificent sunrise (goraiko, 御来光, the honorable arrival of light) from the top of the Fujinomiya trail: https://flic.kr/p/cXuiGu

I loved the Fujinomiya trail... the shortest route to Mt. Fuji's summit and with the highest elevation 5th station of all 4 trails. More details on my 2012 Fujinomiya climb are on this page:
https://www.garyjwolff.com/climbing-mt-fujis-fujinomiya-trail.html
...where you can also see my video including the absolutely breathtaking views of the beautiful blue Suruga Bay.

Happy trails and thanks for visiting my site…
