Hiking time from Goshiki-ga-hara-sanso to Sugo-norikoshi-goya

(Tokyo, Japan)

Hi Gary, I really appreciate the info you posted on your mountain blog. I just got back from the Tateyama to Kamikochi trek and knowing that it would take me quite a while to get from Goshiki camp to Sugo was very helpful. Knowing that it took you 7 hours gave me a much better idea than my Japanese map or Lonely Planet pages.

I had a great trip, but after the typhoon hit while I was going to Yari, I couldn't see much.

Take care and keep hiking,
Eric

Eric, I'm thrilled to hear you had a nice trek. Yeah, that section of trail from Goshiki-ga-hara-sanso (五色ヶ原山荘) to Sugo-norikoshi-goya (スゴ乗越小屋) on the way to Yakushi-dake was kind of like a jet coaster ride & just about killed me. :-)

This graph of ALL the ups & downs paints a thousand words.

Yes, let's keep hiking ! (that's what mom always tells me) :-) You, too !

Cheers,
Gary
