Defense team in Hornussen

Defense team in Hornussen

What I imagine about Switzerland is the beautiful scenery of mountains, delicious cheese, the strict and trustful banks, and one of the famous permanently neutralized countries.

One of my favorite comic books "Moyashimon - the tales of agriculture" introduced a special sport from Switzerland. It is called "Hornussen," which is like a mixture of baseball and golf. I have never seen real Hornussen games, but it seems so pastoral and enjoyable. Each team consists of 18 people and they take turns attacking and defending.

The attacking team hits a small puck with a special bat (It is like a whip) and the defending team tries to hit the puck by a big racket, like a huge rice scoop. The points are decided by the distance from an attacker to the place where the puck was hit. Even the defense is allowed to throw the racket to hit the puck!

It seems difficult to hit the puck with a bat for the first time, but because of the simple rules, I think everyone can enjoy Hornussen.
