How can I tell the current Mt. Fuji pressure readings?

by Lourdes
(USA)

Thanks for this informative website. I will be climbing Mt. Fuji on July 20th and descending on the 21st.

I have done so much research, and now I see that it's predicted for Mt Fuji to erupt in 2015. How accurate is this? How can I tell the current pressure readings? Should I be concerned?

Current volcano warnings are available from the Japan Meteorological Agency
by: Gary Wolff

Thanks, Lourdes.

I'm not aware of any updates to Mt. Fuji eruption predictions since my Feb. 9, 2013 blog post:

https://www.garyjwolff.com/Gary-J.-Wolff-blog-archives-jan-mar-2013.html#erupt

But there seems to be an increase in volcanic activity nationwide in the past year or so. First, there was the eruption on Mt. Ontake-san last Sept. that killed over 50 hikers, then the increased volcanic activity of Hakoneyama near Mt. Fuji early last month, and then just 3 weeks ago, the eruption of Mount Shindake on Kuchinoerabu Island in southern Kyushu.

Not sure about pressure readings, but from this page is a link to Mt. Fuji webcam & live data: http://www.volcanodiscovery.com/fuji.html

Also, current volcano warnings are available from the Japan Meteorological Agency: http://www.jma.go.jp/en/volcano/

On that page, to drill down to specific areas within the Japanese archipelago, click on the "Area" drop down box where it says "Japan". For example, select "Kanto/Chubu" for central Japan which includes Fuji-san.

Best wishes...

Cheers,
Gary
