I climbed Mt. Fuji Aug. 13, 2022 during a typhoon!

by Nu Nu Win

I climbed Mt. Fuji 2 times. One time was August 3, 2019. In that time, we started from 5th station of Subashiri trail to summit and it took about 11 hours. Our group reached the summit in early morning. That is why we could see the sunrise there.

This time, we climbed yesterday, August 12 2022, and started from 0 station, the base of Mt. Fuji. In this time, there was a big Typhoon, so there was heavy rain since the start.

So we climbed from 0 station to 5 station of Yoshida trail and it took about 3 and half hours. We stayed in a hotel of 5th station to rest. Next morning started from early morning 3:30 am again and we reached 7th station at 4:45 am and took sunrise photos.

When we reached 8th station, 3250m above sea level, we could not go ahead because of very strong heavy rain and wind. Because of that, we descended down to 5th station, taking about 3 and a half hours.
