Is eating at the mountain huts an option, rather than carrying all my own food?

Great website - thanks!

I'm planning to walk the Kamikochi - Yari - Hotaka circuit.

I plan to camp, but would prefer to eat at the huts if this is an option, rather than carrying all my own food. Do you know if it is?

Yes, generally it's ok to eat dinner & breakfast if you're not staying inside the hut. Although, without reservations, priority would obviously be given to those paying for a night's stay, in the event food supplies were limited on any given day.

And my experience is that most meals @ Japanese mountain huts are quite delicious.
