hi i am visiting Lake Kawaguchiko in June 2023. i am wondering if it is possible to visit mount fuji and maybe take the trail from 5th station to 6th or 7th station.

i am not a professional climber so i just want to have an experience, not reach the summit. because i read online and some sites state that it is totally closed in june (off peak season).

thank you

Not sure, but I don't think so...

Joe, I’m not sure about this season, but in 2021 the trail was closed at Izumigataki (a short walk from the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station). (image of 2021 trail closing: https://www.garyjwolff.com/image-files/mt_fuji_2021_closed_for_winter_sign.jpg) And I suspect that may be where they closed the trail last year as well.

However, the circumferential Ochudo trail might possibly be open prior to the 7/1 beginning of the 2023 season, which I hiked along with a friend in July of 2021 just a few weeks prior to my climbing to the top of the Yoshida trail. Here are my pics: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmWjH9mp

To get a better answer, you might want to contact the Tokyo Tourist Information Center:

Open Daily 9:00-17:00

As a minimum, I think you can reach the 5th Station by bus which is fun just to hike around the area & visit all the shops, temples, restaurants, observation platform, etc. That way you can say you climbed Mt. Fuji (halfway). :-)

Happy trails and thanks for visiting my site…

p.s. I like your name… it’s also my middle name. :-)
