Is it possible to take an early morning taxi to the 5th Station to begin a 1-day climb to the summit of Mt. Fuji?

Hi Gary, I have a quick question about climbing Mt. Fuji. I will be staying near Kawaguchiko Station and I would like to take an early morning taxi to the 5th Station to begin a one-day climb to the summit of Mt. Fuji.

Is this permitted? With like a 5-6 am starting time at the 5th Station. I really do not care about the sunrise, I just want to climb. Returning by like 3 pm to the 5th Station.

Thank you for any advice you may offer.

Sincerely,
Toby

Thank you for your prompt response. I've just decided to book a hut and hike the Yoshida Trail.

Good luck catching an early morning taxi
by: Gary Wolff

Toby, your plan looks pretty good to me, provided you’re lucky enough to catch a taxi that early in the morning.

Also, maybe you already know, but on average most climbers take a minimum of 10 hours to climb up and down the Yoshida trail, so unless you're in excellent physical condition or your name is Superman, you might not be able to do it any quicker than that. :-)

And I assume you’re already up to speed on the new restrictions to be implemented this year, which I have posted about recently at the top of my Climbing Mt. Fuji FAQ page.

Also, in case you’re not already aware, some sample 1-day climbing itineraries have been posted recently on the official Mt. Fuji site:

Happy trails and thanks for visiting my site…

Cheers,
Gary
