Is the bus from Shinjuku to Murodo still running in August 2013?

by Ray
(Singapore)

Hi there,

Wondering if you could help me out - I emailed the Alpico highway bus company and they said there was no bus from Shinjuku to Murodo.

Can you confirm this please?

And if so, what are the other options you think?

Thanks mate!

Ray

Does it make more sense to go to Toyama instead then?
by: Gary Wolff

Yes, that'd be another option. And probably cheaper too. :-)

The old bus from Shinjuku went via Toyama anyways...

thanks Gary. Was very nice of you to do that.

I was wondering if it makes more sense to go to toyama instead then? It's a shorter trip to get to Murodo then....

cheers!

Take the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route from Ogisawa over to Murodo
by: Gary Wolff

I called 'em, Ray, and got the same answer. :-(

You'll need to take the Alpico highway bus to Ogizawa (¥4700 1-way, ¥8500 round trip) from Shinjuku (http://sawayaka.alpico.co.jp/hakuba/) and then catch a couple of trolley buses, a cable car, and a ropeway along the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route over to Murodo (¥4410 1-way, ¥8800 round trip) (http://www.alpen-route.com/en/transportation/timetable-fares).

Bring LOTS of cash! :-) Have a grrreat trip....
