Ski resorts in south Switzerland

Bilingual Swiss Coke bottle
When I went to Switzerland (since it is a really nice ski resort for Germans), I was really surprised by the different language areas. The northern parts are German, the southern/western parts are rather French.
I did not know where I went; as it turned out, it was a French area. What surprised me, was that everything was bilingual (e.g., Coke bottles were marked in French and German). Also in a bar, people talked French all over, but beers and kitchenware were tagged with German badges.
