Which Mt. Fuji station is the best to sleep at in order to catch sunrise at the summit?

Hello! Your website is so informational! Thanks a lot! I'm planning to climb Mt. Fuji in 2 days which is from 9-10 July. I will take the most popular Yoshida route and I will start to climb in late morning from the 5th station.

I wonder which station is the best to stay for sleep in order for me to catch the sunrise at the summit. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks a lot!

Either 7th or 8th Station is ok

Thanks, Tina.

I believe most climbers prefer staying in a hut around the 8th Station, as it's only 90 minutes from the summit.

But if you're in shape and have nice weather, departing from the 7th Station only adds another 2 hours to your ascent, so that shouldn't be a problem making it in time for the 4:38 am sunrise, depending on your departure time from the hut.

My Mt. Fuji Mountain Huts page shows the elevation for each hut, so that should help you plan your climbing timeline.

Best wishes...
