I will visit Venice!!

by Yuki I.
(Chiba, Japan)

I have not been to Italy, but my sister Ikue went there last spring. When she came home, I heard her memory which was so exciting! Because I was really interested in this country by my sister’s story and her smile, I looked over the sightseeing spots. Among all places, I think Venice is the most beautiful town.

In fact, my sister said Venice was the most interesting and had a good impression for staying here. According to her story, firstly, she was surprised at the quietness which covered the town and people. Because there are no cars, people can walk freely. Ikue said she felt good to walk freely on a town road with a great atmosphere.

I really want to visit Venice, the city built on water. I am planning to travel abroad to Europe for one month with my friends.

I will never drop Italy from our itinerary. If my friends want to drop it, I'll persuade them to look over this country. I think they will say easily “it’s OK!”.

Go visit Venice
by: Frits CAO

Famous place for the arts and beautiful waterways, people and good food. Tei and I went there about five years ago to experience a small part of Venices' Biannalle', after a month long artist retreat & media event on Friole, an Island off Marseilles, France. The trip had many adventures; that included driving, trains & hitchhicking in Austria. We swam in the North sea off DK, the Meditera well as the Baltic sea, as we did in Nice on our train trip, an hours' transfer allowed us just enough time.
It was a honeymoon of sorts so we also wanted to visit Assisi as well as Venice. We enjoyed a short fast on our hike up the trails to learn first hand about St. Francis of Assisi. At the monastery and church's near the museum. The views from above the valley were breathtaking. Tei studied in Italy and we both admire the ideals and work of St. Francis, an inspiring human being.
Venice had so much to share, there were a few cars but the gondolas were the taxis, some motor boats broke the quiet. Bridges and people keep your busy while you scout out unique architecture and decide on your stops along the way too. We went to a few artist exhibits and one had hands on wood projects to stimulate future architects and sculpture students.
Hard to imagine details so I won't elaborate here, please go see it before the more changes come, 007's Casino Royal showed how vulnerable Venice is to the ocean. Japanese know the power of the Ocean to change landscape in ways we never expect.

Venice, the city built on water
by: Gary Wolff

Yuki, I was very happy to read your story about Venice.

Between you & the other students who have written about beautiful Venice, I have started to get very excited about a city with no cars.

Yes, I can imagine it's a very quiet (and clean) environment.

So when are you planning to visit Europe? During this summer vacation?

Thanks for your nice story, Yuki...
